Of all the many reasons to participate in local music (an occasional free bar tab, throwing a little shade at the opposite sex), an earnest attempt at cultivating a cool little scene is too often an afterthought.

That is, unless you’re Steve Rullman of Thehoneycomb.com.

For as long as many Palm Beach County indie music fans can remember, Rullman has held guardianship over several locally-supported nights, creating the time and place for everyone to gather. Starting tonight, there’s a new Honeycomb-endorsed weekly at the Lounge (517 Clematis St., West Palm Beach), called Thank God It’s Honey. Indie rock outfits Summer Blanket and Fire Zuave play while bit-o-honey shots and two-for-one drinks flow from behind the bar from 8 to 11 p.m. No Cover. Call 561-655-9747, or visit www.thehoneycomb.com.
Fridays, 8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 15. Continues through Feb. 28, 2008
