You don’t need to watch the countless YouTube tributes to Chris Farley’s “Fat guy in a little coat” routine to know that big guys equal big laughs. But what if a fat comedian didn’t go that route, and instead embraced his considerable largeness? That would free him up to crack about white people, black people, old people and even the overly-friendly special needs grocery store bag boy. And if he did that, folks, he’d be Bruce Bruce. As the former Frito-Lays salesman and current celebrity spokesperson for Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits, Bruce Bruce takes himself out of the punch line, making the room safe for no one.
