Take a look at the facts: Mosaic, now entering its eighth season, just came off a huge year. Two of its plays, Glengarry Glen Ross and Talk Radio earned the company a pair of Carbonells, and New Times lavished it with two Best Ofs: Best Actor and Best Actress (Todd Allen Durkin and Pilar Uribe). Filling out the other side of the duo is Wilson, a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the first African-American to have a Broadway theater named in his honor. (In case you didnt notice, thats a lot of twos.)
Radio Golf was Wilsons last play, and the final in his acclaimed Pittsburgh Cycle, a series of 10 works that traversed multiple generations in Pittsburghs predominantly black Hill District. It centers on Harmond Wilks, a charismatic, Ivy League lawyer looking to use his Mayoral bid to turn around the impoverished district. The Mosaic production runs September 11 through October 5, and unless theres some garish mishap, it should be a great show. Tickets cost $35. Buy them by calling 954-57-STAGE, or visiting www.mosaictheatre.com.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 13. Continues through Oct. 5, 2008
