God, Save Me From Sodomy!

Sometimes your prayers are for a new pony. Other times they’re for the bank teller to accidentally add a few extra zeros to your deposit. But among the odd requests to the big, omnipotent guy upstairs, changing one’s own sexual orientation still seems to be a prayer that’s most perplexing.

In the film Save Me, Christianity’s controversial ‘ex-gay’ movement is portrayed through the dreamy eyes of the ex-child star turned beloved gay rights activist, Chad Allen.

Allen plays a young gay man whose brothers discover his bouts with homosexuality and partying and send him away to a Christian ministry. There, he meets a fellow member who is battling his own ‘affliction’ and a relationship blooms, against the wishes of the ministry’s leader, played by Judith Light. (Insert unavoidably gushy Ugly Betty shout-out here!)

While Save Me stars Allen and Light, both champions for gay rights, the film’s speaking heads claim to portray a sympathetic view to both sides of the debate.
